The removable tow ball is a factory part, perfectly strong. The idea of removing them is that if you get a rear shunt you don't get your chassis altered, which is generally what happens, new subframe time. Plus the rear bumper is soft impact thing for car park syndrome. When someone glides into you, you wash the mark off.
Bike trailers are actually quite cheap. But for very occasional use and nowhere to store it, not worth bothering with. For the last 30+ years I've run a big estate of some sort, you can stuff a ton or more inside and often do but until now I've never even considered a trailer.
So trailer is right out of the picture - what about bike transport services ???
