Hi guys I own a 2002 500 Bullet with the standard stem mirrors and they get very blurry about 40/45 mph due to the vibration are bar end mirrors any better? If so which ones. Would appreciate your views. Thanks

Bar-end mirrors are ok if you don`t have to filter between traffic lanes, narrow spaces or the bike falls over.

You can try altering the weight of the mirrors little bit of lead or similar taped to stalk near mirror might work, it will alter the vibration band out of where you usually run.give it a try.

I have folding bar-end mirrors on Connie and they're great - no fear of traffic damage 'cos they fold in.

My Elecra-X has Mr H's mirror extensions (catalog page 98, #92569). These use the standard mirror stems cut down and inserted in the telescopic extensions. With these you can extend or shorten to find the best compromise between rear view and vibration (the length of the combined mirror affects the speed at which the blurring happens). In my case I was surprised to find that reasonably long was ok on both counts, but yours may vibrate differently.

Hope this helps.

I too have Halcyon fold in bar end mirrors. and they give far better rear vision than standard mirrors with or without the extensions, and no vibration blur either. And then I covered the mirror stem holes in the standard levers with plugs from our host.

I have also adopted the bar end (Halcyon) mirror from H, there are two types of fitting i.e. bar-end or expanding plug depending on whether or not you have a welded in nut; it replaces the bar-end weight. Lack of vibration is good but it does catch the gate post and every time it has to be flipped it has to be readjusted; it extends out further than you may realise, it does however offer a good view to both sides of the rear.

There are blanking plugs for the antennae mirror holes, and rubbery anti-vibration damper adaptors. Any springy rod will have a fundamental oscillation frequency.

Thanks for all your Imput guys given me food for thought, think I'll try scotty's idea first as I do like the standard mirrors, if that don't work will have a look at the bar ends.

Ignore negative comments about falling over as it is not relevant! I have bar end on the Electra X and it is fine, albeit vibes kick in but you just live with them. On the Electra iron barrel, I have a single mid-bar mirror - available from Halcyon. It clamps onto the bars inboard from the levers, it means you don't need extensions, or indeed bar end mirrors. And filtering is unaffected in case you were worried about that as well.

Also check out H's 92568 short stem oval mirrors. I got a pair due to the narrow gate problem but never fitted them.

Ok so I fitted short bar 92568 and got a good view of my tummy and very little else, virtually no rear view and what could be seen was very small (mirror curvature) and inferior to bar end 200034 - note this part is specially modified for H to replace the bar end weight.
