I second Rattlebattle. Nigelphoto has gone the other way and swapped the Classic for the CGT but me, I regularly ride 40+ miles on the Classic ...



I test rode the CGT and within a mile realised my body weight was too far forwards on my old back and wrists and its looks don't match its performance. The Classic is nearly as quick but doesn't look as though it should do 120. The Classic I bought has close to 2000 miles now and I can ride it comfortably for hours at a time. I replaced the seat springs with steel brackets to lower it (short legs) and which improved the comfort for me; they do not need the seat pogo springs. The Bullet has a higher dual seat.



The choice would be down to looks. You may need to ride them both again and consider where and how far you might ride them.

All, thanks so much. I think essentially, the classic is probably the more practical option, especially for longer trips, whilst the GT the prettier with some technically 'better' aspects. They appeal to different parts of the psyche. Yes, I think Jefrs right, I need to have another, longer, go. Cheers all.

Thinking Caff Racer then a 70s Honda 400F has similar looks, performance that matches their look, and handles like a cat on rails, they go for similar money ...

Quick Update: Having spoken to Haywards, they also advised that for two-up / occasional long-er distance rides, the classic was the best bet. I ordered a classic 500 in battle green, with pillion seat and sump guard. Very excited!! Thanks to everyone for your help in coming to a decisions. Very valuable advice, especially from those with experience of both bikes.
