Gwilly as one of the "sinister minority" and the "vexatious." I would much rather NOT engage in political discussions on this forum. I am a political activist on wide range of subjects including motorcycling, but I confine the latter to MAG and NABD.

Papa - I did bother to read the link. However, I still defer to the knowledge and experience of the main dealer Midlands Royal Enfield from whose website I took the quote. The situation is actually rather more complicate than you suggest since later this year compliance will include ABS, disc brakes front and rear, and other components which I understand from MotoGB, RE is working on at the moment to ensure the Himalaya gets EU type-approval. I am not refuting anything you say, rather that I wouldn't want to be doing a self-import of any non EU compliant motorcycle at this moment. And one last thing, thanks so much for the sarcasm in your response to me - causes me much amusement!

Nigelphoto the issue of ABS brakes has been done to death. NO official notices have been issued about this, it is little more than a rumour in the motorcycling media.
If ABS did come in as law for motorcycles in Britain it would kill the sale of new motorcycle stone dead due to the cost of it, and or repairing it if it goes wrong. (Over £2000 on my K75S, which is why it will be removed/bypassed if it ever does go wrong.)

A lot of things have appeared in the "pipeline" over the years only to disappear without a trace.

Sunshine - and the racist can't even read English, although he disparages others who don't have English as their first language. I quoted directly from an RE dealer's website, therefore not actually my own statement. Please don't call me an idiot on a public forum. Its not big and its not clever but merely demonstrates your own lack of intellectual integrity - which I suppose, is all we can expect from a bigot

Sunshine Bigot - a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own. Adj. 1. Racist - based on racial intolerance; "racist remarks" racial, of or characteristic of race or races or arising from differences among groups. If you lived in this country, you could well be reported for the remarks you have posted in this thread http://www.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/vi ... orumorder= My advice to you is firstly grow up as your operating at kindergarden level and secondly zip it before you cause any more offence.

David Angel at F2 Motorcycles has managed to import Jawa 350cc two- strokes for several years; I feel there must be a way to do the same with a Himalyan, though I know not how. I do know that Euro IV doesn't come into effect until 01/01/17 which is why the remaining 865cc Triumph twins can be sold until then without being pre-registered. As for ABS it wouldn't surprise me if it were introduced, notwithstanding the cost of repair or replacement. A few years ago a warning light lit on my Mazda 3 car, basically necessitating the replacement of the ABS unit on that at a would be cost of £1900. There was a cheaper workaround sourced from the inter web. If I still had my K75S or K100RS and the ABS mk1 went I'd remove it anyway to save a lot of weight. It was slow and clunky anyway, though the bikes were brilliant for their time. Anyway, good luck and I hope it works out. Personally I'd rather have a carb version than an approved EFI one.
