The lamp on my 2013 Electra EFi instrument dial isn't coming on. I'm assuming it is the lamp that's u/s. Is it a simple enough operation to remove the lamp from underneath - if so is a straight pull or bayonet - thanks.

Same thing happened on my Woodsman/Electra EFI. Wasn't the bulb but the sender unit in the tank. Easy enough to change though, just run 'till very low on fuel then either remove tank or tilt the bike away from the sender unit, unscrew old unit and fit new one. Job done.

I would blame the bulb first, the indian ones aren't that good, check the fuse too. The instrument prises up out of the casquette to access the bulbs; I swapped them all out after the fuel indicator lamp blew (which blew the fuse at the same go). A little vaseline or silicone oil helps the rubber grommet.

Thanks for the replies. I've managed to prise the instrument out - can you tell me does the lamp and lamp holder pull out, or twist and pull. The lamp holder doesn't seem to want to move easily and I'm reluctant to damage anything. Thanks.

Probably the lamp, but if not there have been several reported instances of ethanol in the fuel dissolving the float...Not a difficult fix either way as has been advised.

The lampholder on my 2015 efi is a very tight fit but is a simple push on pull off design.
From (bad) memory I think the lampholder fits into a spigot and not a hole. Use fingers only to avoid damage to the spigot which is part of the unit. Once free the bulb is then twisted and pulled to remove form the holder.

The lamp holders pull out and then the bulbs are little bayonet fittings. Spares available from any car parts retail outlet.

Hopefully on a bike barely three years old, it won't be the sensor.



Don't rule it out but bulbs are cheap parts and easy enough to swap out. The oem bulbs and fuses are pretty poor, the fuses corroded and the bulbs poor fitting with wonky filaments; all are standard 'car' parts, the replacement fuses are thicker metal and the bulbs fit well.

Plastic bicycle tyre levers are useful for prising out things you don't want to scratch even if they're useless at getting tyres off.

By 'pulls out' - it's more of wiggle and twist to ease the holder out. Do not pull on the wires.



I can't remember whether I used my fingernails or the thumb-opener on the swiss army knife to get hold of it.
