To be fair, you can be prosecuted for driving an unroadworthy vehicle at any time, even on the day it passed it's mot if something has happened in the meantime to render it unroadworthy. Here in France the system is slightly different, the mot runs from the day of the test and is valid for two years, if the car fails you have 2 months in which to fix it and take it back for a re-test, but like the UK you can still be prosecuted for driving an unroadworthy vehicle at any time. I guess if the fault is that serious you should have fixed it before the mot was due,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Note I said "if the car fails"? No mot here for bikes,,,,,,,,,,, yet!
