Had a beautiful 30 mile run on the bullet today , on returning my model g was begging to be ridden , what a lovely ride about 5 miles out cough splutter and to a stand still.

No petrol oh no .

And not a happy wife having to bring the petrol can. And interrupting making the dinner.

First time ever I have run out. .

How many others made this school boy error ?

Ha ha ! In my youth, I raced with my BSA A10 in the local events. I used to go to the races rinding her, just having the side number plates, the lights removed and the front plate fitted at the event. Of course, with just enough fuel to come, race and go home. Happened wat had to happen, I run out of fuel on the way home, and had to push the bike for several km. Just wanted to kill all the bikers that returned from the event and klaxoned me, thumb up. None stopped...

Ran out in the middle of nowhere in Hampshire. The fuel warning lamp had blown which managed to take out the other two lamps in the binnacle and the ancillary fuse into the bargain. Ho-hum thought I, phone wife for lawnmower can and sent directions from iPhone location. She received a location some 20 miles south-west of Fort William, that being where that app was last used.

Chris,

They are two completely different experiences.

The G is gorgeous a sedate ride 1946 model really does feel like I'm back in the forties , I only ride back country roads so it's lovely. Thumping exhaust I'm running in so only taking it up to 30mph at mo done ant 150 miles.

The bullet also sedate but as a 1960 seems quite nippy compared to the G although I don't work them and only take the bullet upto 45 ish .

I'm chuffed as will only take the G out in dry weather as totally restored and stunning .

The bullet I will ride when I want to get out on the road so I'm very happy I have both , funny thing the guy I bought the G offered offered to buy the bullet when he delivered the G . Thankfully I turned him down.

Did the same years ago, not on my RE, but on a Kawasaki I had at the time. Riding into Central London on the A40 elevated section, bike coughed so I reached for the reserve tap, only to find it already was on reserve...
Pushing the bike down the slip road, having discovered just how heavy a bike is to push 1/2 mile, I heard a toot behind me, it was the Boys in Blue "Is this your bike Sir?", I managed to stop myself from saying "No, I nicked it". Have never made that mistake again.
