Since the link "drowned" in my posting regarding the Micarb jetting, I am starting a new tread. Hope to get som feedback on my little video of my Bobber (re)build.

Bike was "born" in -62, engine shipped to India, frame I belive was the first gen produced i India. Asembled there and stayed there for appx 40 years. Imported to Norway and used here as a second bike.

I've done a lot of things to it during rebuild. New bottom end With rollers, high compression piston, racing camshafts, high capasity oil pumps ++.

Frame was chopped for all unnessesary parts. New wider swing arm and welded on tubes to it to hold the rear mudguard. Mudguard now follows swing arm, not as original where fender is mounted to frame and rear wheel travels up and down inside mudguard. Brake light at the end of the tubes along With rear light and brake light behind the seat.

All parts are sandblasted and powdercoated. Only part beeing painted otherwice is the gas parts og rear shock absorbers. Did not want to risk the heat for these in my powder coating oven, 205 deg Celsius.

Front end changed to Thunderbird fork legs because I wanted som lugs to Mount front mudguard to. Mudguard not ready yet as you can see from the video. Lucas 7" front light and lights are controlled by push buttons at the handle bar via relays inside the headlight casing.

This is in short terms what I've done. Still waiting for the Amal MK1 to arrive. This will, I hope, fix the problem discussed in the "Jetting the Micarb" tread.

Take a look at the video and give me som feedback. Thank's

Well, you've certainly created a unique machine, so full marks for that. Personally, I like the look of the Bullet the way it comes out of the factory, but don't let an old fogey like me put you off.

Papasmurf:
Not sure what you referring to. Remember this is an old model, -62, and they came with lh brake, rh gear shift. They also had lh sprockets and this leeds to what I presume you are thinking of, the rear axle nut is on the lh side, newer models I believe are different.
Did this answer Your question?

When I got my Electra X (ish) it became obvious the previous owner had put the wheel spindle in the wrong way round because the R clip was next to impossible to remove and interfered with the brake rod.

Very nice, always good to see something a little different. As for the rear axle, just out of interest I googled images for Enfield rear wheel and found several examples of both. No, I'm not a total anorak, honestly,,,,,, It's just that Harley fit the rear axle with the nut on the left of the bike, I believe this is so that the rotation of the wheel would encourage the axle to "tighten" rather than "loosen". But it's a right PITA because you end up having to remove the exhaust to withdraw the spindle, which means new gaskets each time. But my Enfield and my Transalp have the axle fitted the other way round, with the nut on the right, so I figured I could swap the Harley one over and save myself a some work next time the wheel needs to come out. Given that they all have "R" clips to stop them coming loose I can't see it really matters which way round it goes in. Unless anybody knows different? If I've managed to get the link right, there should be a little vid here of my Electra EFI, and yes, all the Enfield die hards keep telling me they prefered the original version,,,,,,,,,,,

I also swapped the spindle round on one of mine around so you could pull it out without having to removing the exhaust and found no problems after doing so.
Nice looking bike, not something I'd personally want to ride but I can appreciate the time and work involved.

2CVANDY: Like Your Electra. How did you manage to mount the License plate? Self made? Hard to see from the video. By the way; need som "grown up education": how do you put videos directly in to the forum as in your posting?

Hi, the licence plate mount came from ebay, - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261953419013? ... EBIDX%3AIT - it was supposed to fit on the end of the axle but I wanted to use the rear footrest mountings so I modified it, and made a bracket to suit. I didn't want to cut off the footrest mounts just in case the bike ever gets put back to a dual seat, that's why I made the reflector mount for the right hand one, I didn't want a redundant bracket so it needed to carry something. For posting videos I read the excellent guide posted on this forum, here it is ;- http://gpoclocksystems.byethost22.com/m ... kattempt=1 - and if I got it right again here's a picture of the licence plate mounting, taken before I painted it all black so you can see what fits where,,,,,Image
