Hi all,

Apologies if this seems like a stupid question. I'm wanting to replace the indictaors on my classic bullet for something a bit smaller/more subtle. Having had a very basic look at the wiring I can see no easy way of patching in a new pair other than snipping the wires, adding connectors and then plugging in the replacement set.

Is this the case or should I follow the wiring further up into the headset where there may be some form of existing junction?

Mine had push together connectors which I assume are standard as the new indicators from our host came with the same connectors, I have since changed them again for LED versions sourced from a certain auction site and even then the connectors are the same.

Thanks for that. Where are the push connectors hidden in the loom? A quick search hasn't revealed anything. Or are they in the back of the indicator unit itself?

There is usually only about six inches of wire between indicator stem and the connecters.

I put smaller ones on my 2006 Bullet last year.. seem to remember they were in the head lamp cluster. note that you may need to put inline resisters in if you go for led ones...

yes- i'm thinking of LED's so will look into the resitor thing.

These lights are for you safety, not for looking pretty. From what I have observed following bikes with small lights, they are useless in Sunlight, nearly invisible. I have fitted the largest lights I could find to improve my being seen by others.

Not too sure if those tiny things are legal?
I might also think that a change of indicator is a declarable item to our UK insurers.

Fitted smaller indicators to Chugchug, and as mentioned by Leon "they were useless in sunlight" ...........unless you uprate the bulb wattage and fit an uprated flasher unit too. This is because most of the smaller bulb type indicator kits don't have room inside for any sort of reflector and the light output from the standard bulbs just gets lost without a reflector (half the light is lost due to the missing double effect of a reflector).LED flashers would be brighter if you can find any that look right on a Bullet ,as most I have seen look too futuristic for the style of bike. My flashers are lined with baking foil to give a "Blue Peter" style reflector and bulbs are slightly higher wattage and the flasher unit is uprated( the bulbs and the flasher unit can be purchased as a kit),they flash at the correct rate and can be seen in bright sunlight too.
