Hello, I have the letters "GEN" and numbers "5092" on my Crusader cylinder head? Numbers and letters had to of been part of casting mould as not punched or etched on, can anyone shed some light on this?

Jock (or however you want to be known?) I have often seen letters/numbers stamped on to Enfield cylinder heads but never cast in. Are you sure they are cast in, that is raised above the surrounding surface? And whereabouts on the head are they? Enfield mostly had their castings made by other companies and then machined them themselves, sometimes these companies cast in their logo, the most common one being JVM on wheelhubs and other parts. Can you post a pic? Also, there is a Yahoo Group especially for Crusaders at [email protected] Come and join in, lots of photos, files and knowledge.

Hi Mark, yes, letters and numbers raised above surrounding cast, as mentioned not etched, punched or embossed. Numbers are above/behind spark-plug port and letters directly opposite on other side of cylinder head. Having problems attaching images and when I attempt to join crusader technical group it wants me to create a yahoo email address (two email address are enough).

Sorry Jock, not questioning your eyesight but mistakes have been made in the past! Do join the Yahoo group, you don't need to use the Yahoo address but it is handy to contact other Group members. There are no snags to the Yahoo email so you won't get spam or anything.
