I have a Enfield Indian import 91' 350 cc.

Im not able to start the thing. New battery, new spark plug, compression ok, fuel ok, check charge its 11.7v.

It seems that the spark is very weak even with a new spark plug.

I asked my local enfield specialist and they didn't sort it! Just called out the AA they cant sort it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, weak spark try a new condenser and coil. In this case you need to work logically through the bike eliminating things as you go. The bike just requires fuel, air and sparks to run as long as its mechanically sound you will find the problem by this method, always works for me. One last thing be patient and analyse as you go. hope this helps.

11.7vdc doesn't sound good for a new battery, i should give it a charge or booster cables from a car battery, see if it improves spark..

Agree, 11.7 is not good for a new battery. You should be getting 14v when charging.
Could be condenser or coil but try the cheap option first and replace the condenser.

Before replacing aything try the even cheaper option & charge the battery and or temporary boost from car battery as Gwilly says.
Though having said that I've had a coil & points ignited Bullet running (none too well) with battery at 9-10v. So capacitor would be next thing if a fully charged battery does not do the trick

Thanks all.

Battery - should I take back to the seller? We tried to boost the battery with the AA and no resolve but I will increase the charge in any case.

Condenser and Coil - is there any way I can test these components without replacing? I have a multimeter (not sure how to use it though!) - If not I will start with a new condenser then a coil.

Whats a capacitor is this something else?

It's actually a capacitor but for some reason they are often referred to as condensers

Apologies for creating confusion, just checked the parts books they do indeed call it a condenser

Hi Guys,
"Condenser" comes from the world of radio, as used in very old radio circuits "Capacitor" being the modern parlance!
This subject prompts the question, "any Amateur Radio enthusiasts on here"?
