Bought a old mamod SE1 Stationary steam engine today from a second hand shop , great little thing from about 1948 that's when toys were toyss.

Anyone seen this little engines when fired up steam coming out the chimney whisking and the little fly wheel going like the clappers .

Simple things :)))))

I love all things steam and have often wondered why the steam land speed record is still so slow. In 1906 the record was set at 127mph in a Stanley Steamer car yet over a century later, with modern technology, further attempts have only raised that to about 140mph.

I think Mamod are long gone, but Wilesco in Germany still make live steam models. The prices seem to have gone up a bit since I bought mine though!

I had a Mamod SE2a, one cylinder, but with reversing lever. Had the line shaft and the accessories too!

Then I got a Wilesco. much bigger and also fun.

When I grew out of that, I got this...

Turned it into this...

But then I finally found what it was that had eluded me for so long...
