Notwithstanding all the foregoing, and my private thoughts, on the alleged provenance of a very nice looking 350 Bullet, I would simply enjoy the bike for what it is.
The price paid is what the bidders in auction considered to be fair. I know a dealer is involved but it seems to me he may well be selling "on commission" rather than from stock

Whilst a "Bitza" can be a camel, there are plenty bikes out there that someone has built themselves and are better than ones that were built in a factory and put together with skill and car. (I missed out on one a few years ago, that was for sale due increasing decrepitude of the owner. He sold it for £1000, I would have paid him £5000 had I known it was for sale.)

As you bought the bike from eBay and from a dealer then you are covered by the distance selling rules, the same as any online service
You bought something in good faith that you believed to be a genuine 1966 bike, it is the responsibility of the seller to accurately describe an item. And it is his responsibility to know what he is selling , remember the saying "ignorance is no exscuse in the eyes of the law"?

To knowingly sell this bike as a 1966 bike when you doubt or know it is not, is the criminal offence of misrepresentation which carries a criminal conviction !!!

So if you do want your money back, contact the dealer, then if he does not play ball Trading Standards !

However it looks a nice bike and if it was a 1990's built Indian Enfield then I would probably have paid around that price for it
It really depends whether you want a genuine 1966 bike to ride or are not bothered

Well where can i start .

After taking the day off and waiting all day she was rolled off the van. My heart sunk. You guys were right not a 66 model not even a nice put together model.

I rung the dealer and he was and is a true gentleman he admitted he know nothing about Enfields and honestly believed it to be genuine . He has given me a full refund and i am relieved but bitterly dissapointed .

I am after a genuine British enfield that i know has been looked after and not going to fall apart when i hand my moneu over , Bullet or Model G i have 3500 at the moment so not sure what that will get me though.

To top it all just went to the shop and thought id been pick pocketed felt sick finally found my wallet back at home

Regards a very worn out Reds

Well where can i start . You guys were right , afer taking the day off work the van pulled up and the bike was rolled off. My heart sunk. Not a 66 model not even a nice bitza . This was a indian model made up of nimerous bikes and half a engine number.

I wont go into the faults on it however the dealer was rung and he was and is a true gent he paid me back in full . In fairness he said he knew nothing about enfields and i did feel for him to be honest.

So guys if you could help i am looking for a british Enfield and have 3500 pound . I dont know what that will get me but if you could point me in the right direction.

To top it off just went to the shops and was bumped into then couldnt find my wallet sick to the stomach after searching back at home id left my wallet on the side. What a day

A very tired dissapointed but VERY VERY relieved Reds.

Cheers

Good news Reds despite the disappointment. Next time you see something you fancy, it might be a plan to ask the forum first? We are here to help (though it might seem not sometimes LOL) Have you looked at what Mr H has to offer? Or ask here if anyone has anything available.

Have a look at the 1949 Model G here in the used bikes section, this one could be what you are looking for and from a reliable source.

I agree with Pike, the G listed on this site looks pretty honest and if you have some money available on top of the price and aren't prepared to do the work yourself you could get the guys in the Hitchcocks workshop to finish off the few jobs the description says need doing? Could be a deal there... The other possibility is to go back to the first G and try and drive a harder bargain?
