I've always used ATF in the Bullet's forks as a) it's about the right viscosity and b) It's on the shelf. I was a bit surprised today when I found out it was actually specified for my missus's CB250f.

ATF is specified for manual gearboxes in some automobumbles, my 5-speed Ford Laser being one.

Actually it's exactly the right viscosity as 10w fork oil. Back in the 70's and 80s Honda recommended ATF for pretty much all their bikes. I still use it in my Transalp, it's absolutely fine.

I know it'll do the job 2cvandy, I was just surprised that Honda specified it instead insisting on "Honda Special Fork Oil" (or whatever).
