I may be wrong about this bikes ,lying for a while , am I right to think than the kick start models with decompressor , I was told to kick the decompresser a few times before starting, to lift some oil flow through the engine to help it start and I think some petrol to, question instead of starting it up when it will be lying say all winter could you not just do that or indeed turn the motor with electric start with out the plug lead on to keep the oil flowing the guy is right about Hondas my 35 year old one was no bother after , a long lie up, it did smoke a bit but it soon cleared, it strikes me that ,for a fifty year old, simple design engine it does have some complex problems, but glad there are people here, who can help you overcome them, I will run the enfield for a year, then make my mind up, I love single cylinders, and there are others out there, but I suppose if you look after the engine it will look after you, if I get the dreaded mayo. the new hose set up seems ok. the only bit I'm puzzeled is the hose that goes to the timing end perhaps a diagram would show me
