I've been diabetic on insulin since the age of 4 Ferg! I was diagnosed way back in 1961 !! My license is a 3 year restricted too, never had any problems with it so far. We seem to have a lot in common - Shall we get married? Hehehe! I don't know what my figures are for my eyes but when I got my new specs after my 5-year-old ones....I could see for yards! I know one eye is long-sighted & the other short-sighted but that's about it. My eye surgery was to correct cataracts that eventually formed after laser surgery over 25 years ago when it was in its infancy. I had my right eye done in 2008 & my left in January last year. The only down-side I can find is that my eyes don't adjust to darkness or bright lights as quickly as they used to - Bright headlights tend to dazzle me sometimes as well. That's pretty much got my medical history out the way then - Happy riding dude!

thanks gaz your right about the darkness and light my eyes are funny headlights,can dazzle me, one I eye seems to have more colour in it than the other but the difference ,after the op was good for long sight I said that to the surgeon the right eye op when he was doing it I could see a lot of flashing colours but , when he did the right one it was nearly all black and white colours strange anyhow,i would marry you but it would depend on how much money you had lol.

Though i am not diabetic myself I have a family member who is insulin dependant and is now an active member of the organisation.

fishermanferg: I'm on the verge of retiring so don't (& won't) have any money, ask my wife! So I guess we'll just have to remain friends old chap...Hehehe! ......Beezabryan: I'm actually in the BDA so I know how beneficial it is but thanks for the info man - Happy riding all!

hi again gaz happy retirement when it comes, what type of work do you do, I worked in the iron and steel industry , ive been medically retired a good few years. you will if you have not got one already, have guessed what mine is by my username what part of the country, do you live in .

Bloofy hell fishermanferg! - I've been working in the same iron & steel industry since 1974! I live in North Lincolnshire, which should narrow it down a bit for you - The industry here is dying now though - the foreign owners want rid of the place & have closed various mills on-site leaving a rail section still rolling and steel production through Concast & BOS operations. I guess you were up in the land of the Big Yin....am I right?
I lived & worked in Redcar for 14 years & visited your part of the country a few time through work - I now work for a computer-services prvider on the works....Computers? I bloody hate the things! Hehehehe! A bit like the Punch & Judy man who hates kids?
We seem to have even more in common than first thought eh? You'll be telling me you like WWII aircraft next! Cheers

amazing gaz are you my long lost twin anyway . I studied ww2 fir a long while because of one thing , my dad went away in 1939 , with the b.e.f he was fighting he got captured near Dunkirk at le.harve he was in the rear rear guard trying to hold of the germans, to try and help the Dunkirk evacuation if you read the book, the great escape there are lines in it , that read the thin notes of the bugle was heard early in the morning that was my dad , he was bugler in his part of stalag luft 3 and yes I have come across ww2 aircraft I never really study them they were ,just part of the bits I study another ,wee snippet my dad ,was batman to .douglas bader for a while.i have seen comments on certain aircraft. let me think , me109, junkers , zeros . b.29s, catalinaS etc my favourite one is the mosquito cracking aeroplane its funny me , and my mate were discussing engines . there is a engineering place up here and they have .rolls Royce merlin engine and there is also a spitfire, on display ,now here is a puzzler the scene in the film where steve McQueen nicks the bike of the german ,and takes of when we watched it at the cinema a couple guys started laughing they said look he is running about Nazi Germany , on a triumph I have an interest in ww2 but not really any specific part of it. oh and a stuka had some sort of siren on it when it dived but what I read was it was easy shot down.

Steve McQueen did indeed ride around some hills on a captured Triumph twin! - The Stuka was an effective blitzkreig weapon but when not escorted by fighters, was very vulnerable to emeny attack. Extremely interesting stuff about your dad ferg! I'll bet he had someinteresting tales to tell when he came home? - Did he stay incarcerated until the end of the war ? There are tails of Bader being a boorish loudmouth who bullied his way around. It's strange but a lot of fighter pilots were like that & yet some were just like you & me and amazed they got where they did in the end! What WWII studies did you undertake?
