I got bike insured with be.wiser, the insurance company, is called highway insurance part of the l.v group got an e.mail from be.wiser saying that I would have to pay an extra £20.62 the insurers said that the premium was incorrect bearing in mind that I had already accepted their quote and paid for it seemingly their answer was that they had went below the insurers quote level whatever the hell that is, I asked why was the be.wiser guy who went through his list of insurers not told by highway insurance that the quote was wrong, not a bloody week after I mean his initial quote was £185 I told him no thanks so he came back with I could do it , for £85.85 I accepted that then I get a hit for another £20 insurers drive you up the wall I got that fed trying to get insurance for a grey import I just said deal but next year I will definitely phone around it beats me when the don't have your bike in the drop down list it would take them all of 5 minutes ,to go to the dvla website mot checker they would find the bike and model there anyway the photo I posted wondering what the bits were under the seat, some guy in india told me it was a condenser unit ive emailed him back and asked him what is it for . rant over

Phew! - That took some reading fishermanferg! Not much in the way of punctuation... When I insure my bikes I ALWAYS shop around to get the best deal I can - Most insurers sometimes assume that you will just pay-up at renewal time but add a few quid on - Cheeky beggars! I've not had much experience with grey-imports so it may be a bit different but there must be other fine chaps on this forum who do.
Happy riding dude!

hi gaz must learn or get a new keyboard a lot of the buttons are sticking, already had such rants, with insurers who claim to insure royal enfields . they couldn't insure mine , I told them that they would have to change their advertising policy , to we insure royal enfields , but not all models . I never got a reply . bennets were good until they were bought over by saga, you no saga who say we help the over fifties well I wrote and told them , you did not help me. no answer came the loud reply, this a small example of what I got on the phone today , the girl was asking me ,do you want this added on and that added on, then she said we would give you a courtesy car, I sad why would I get a courtesy car , its a motorcycle policy oh so it is she said. punctuation getting better not bad for a one finger typist. I'm having trouble close up reading ,just had two cataract eye ops,can see for miles but will have to get glasses for reading . have a nice day

That's kinda weird? I've just had my other eye done for a cataract removal! I wore glasses before that already though - I had to wait a bloody long time for it to settle down before I got my new set of specs though! - Try a company called Footman James, or Devitt for bike insurance - I'm with Devitt at present for my Enfield & Kawasaki W650 - pretty reasonable for 2 bikes on a single policy. Cheers

I've had issues insuring my grey import (Enfield 500 Lightning). All of these insurance websites (via the drop down menu) say that my bike doesn't exist. They say the 535 Lightning does though. Some insurance websites use the Registration number to find the make and model. When I type in my Registration number. They say the Registration number doesn't exist! Strewth. I've only been riding the bike for six years! My first insurer was Red Star. They turned out be be a bunch of extortionists. I found cheaper insurance with CIA Insurance. In a strange quirk. The underwriters for CIA Insurance is.... wait for it..... Red Star. I've yet to figure out how CIA Insurance can under cut their underwriters.

I do understand the insurance rants, they seem to happen at this time year too. Seems to be the brokers "tTke the piss out of the punter" period
Got my renewal a few days ago for 1992 Bullet 500, 1952 BSA Golden Flash & box sidecar, 1954 BSA Winged Wheel asking for £99.06 (up £3.40 from last year) fully comp inc riding other bikes, a moderate amount of clothing, UK & European recovery, legal protection.
Jusy for fun I have looked at other insurance suppliers and had a few laughs, like the one that gave a very favourable number then starts adding for this & that, things that are already in the 100 quidsworth asked of me by my present broker.

I shop around as well but - a word of warning! Insurance companies don't like new business from over 70s so as I approach that age, I shall find a decent company and stick with them. It'll just mean arguing with them every year.

thanks for replies hi gaz I used to wear glasses, for driving don't need them now. but after cataract op you need them for reading ,close up stuff you see ive ,been on a restricted 3 year licence for about 20 years now its called eyesite correction its because, I'm an insulin dependant diabetic, I also have mild diabetic damage. in both eyes, I think you need glasses , to read wth ,because your natural retina , can adjust for close up ,or far away , but the the new lens they give you cannot. as for devitts I phoned them ,and got told we do not do grey imports I will stick with bewiser ,and I get the same put your reg in ,and you get unable to find it . my reply to them was , go into the dvla road tax or better still mot checker and put in reg and you will find it , it would only take them a few minutes, but no they cannot seem to grasp that as somebody else ,said on here bennetts were good till saga ,took them over don't do grey imports they told me getting new glasses tomorrow should help with close up work

meant to say gaz my eyesite acuity was left eye 6.19 my right eye was 6.15 as you probably know well I take it you know as you have had cataract surgery. that perfect eyesite acuity is 6.6 for both eyes now my left eye, is 6.7 and my right eye is 6.8 big difference maybe that's why you found it weird but as they say no two people are the same may I ask what your visual acuity is now did your op make a big difference to your eyesite its amazing how many people drive about not knowing that ,their eyesite is bad anyway there will be diabetics on this site who will like me,who go to diabetic eye retinopathy screening and I was told many years ago do not let insurance companies bump up youe policy because you are diabetic. you must tell them of course that the dvla are aware of your condition .
