Provided you get the alternator wiring conversion right (Pete Snidal's manual explains how),and the rotor still has plenty of magnetism (the magnets can lose it over time) the original regulator and rectifier will now have the full output of the alternator to deal with. That might be a bit much for the 15 year old components, if they CAN cope, fine, if not a new universal single phase reg/rectifier would be a good investment.



You can get them with built-in capacitors, eg the Boyer Power Box from our hosts, or the Sparx SPX023, which is a lot cheaper, if you want to run batterly-less.

Adrian, I've got Snidal's CD (year 2002, bought, not downloaded) but in my new computer I can't read it due to a problem about zone 1 and zone 2 not solved yet. Hence my embarras and desperation about both the bike and the computer!
