Hi All

A plea for help here. I've finally got my Electra EFI project assembled, put the battery on, fresh fuel in the tank (although there was a drop of old stuff in there as well) connected all the wires up (nightmare) and remembered to fit the spark plug and put 2.75 litres of oil in the engine. The problem is, it won't start!

Turning the engine over on the starter (alas no kickstart) shows a healthy spark at the plug, but there doesn't seem to be any fuel getting injected. Checking the fault codes revealed a problem with the MAP sensor (Bent pins in the sensor, now replaced) and a "pump module problem" (I'd had the ignition on without the tank fitted) but nothing else. I've tried to do the ECU reset procedure without any success so far. The fuel pipe out of the pump appears to be pressurising OK and there's a signal of some sort reaching the injector electrical connections. Is it possible for the injector to block up or has any one had problems with the injector failing?

First thing to do it eliminate possible faults so remove the power commander

Turn the bike over with a plug still in the head and a spare plug on the lead. The power drain to turn over under compression could be killing the spark.

Remove the injector and turn the ignition on, it should spray a little prime ping fuel. If not then it could be faulty or blocked, have you got a spare injector kicking about to test? Most have the same fittings. Modern fuel can cause rust inside cheap injectors and they then stick.

I would try the damp start test. Spray a little in the inlet while someone turns it over, if it coughs a little and runs for a second then it is a fuel issue
