Hello, I have Bullet 5 speed, 2006, iron barrel. Not long ago it was full serviced because of complications triggered by oil pump spindle problems. During that service mechanic of course put new oil in the bike. Anyway since that big service I did about 100 miles. Motorcycle was running good, everything was fine. Then winter came and Bullet was resting in a shade, I fired it up every 10 days or so. Today I went for a first ride. When I stoped after 10 miles I noticed big oil leaking on right side.
There was a lot of oil in air filter box, on the panniers, exhaust,.. total mess. I think I noticed oil also on the left side near breather box, which also have oil over it. I turned back home and all of it happened again. There was no oil leaking when Bullet was resting through winter, only today when I was riding it. What is going on?? On first 100 miles before winter I didn't notice that problem. Bullet is my first motorcycle so I'm new at motorcycles and mechanics.

It sounds as though either its been overfilled at the service, or there's a problem with the breather system. If thats the case its not really an oil leak, but oil being blown out of the crankcase and into the air box. Have a look at this diagram which will show you how the breather works http://www.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/pa ... d_PAV_Unit However, if I were you I'd ask for a lot more details from whoever did your service about what exactly was the problem with the 'oil pump spindle' as it could even be the pump has been reassembled incorrectly which is a lot more serious.

At that service spindle was badly worn and worm nut also. Because of that there was no oil flow... Bam!

If there was put too much oil at the service, would that oil also be blown to air filter as with breather problems?
