Nice 'dry run' there Jefrs. Funny when I commuted on my Bandit for 10 years I got a perverse joy from riding through the rain. Not any anymore though! I've tried an open face helmet with the aviator goggles and found I looked like a Cartoon character. I've got such a small head they do not suit me. The fact that when I tried it on the wife couldn't stand up because she was laughing so much pretty much dashed any hopesdreams of looking like Steve McQueen. I now have an HJC IS-17 full face which is great.

Lee B - perhaps you can tell me whether HJC are wide or narrow?

I'm 56-57cm which is between two of their sizes. I'm not 55cm and 58cm can be too big depending on shape, makes vary.

I really don't fit FF lids, it's the cheek pads, not being funny they hurt a lot. And FF don't have peaks, so they've gone out of fashion.
I have to wear distance glasses to drive, they're Oakleys which are safety specs; never got on with gargoyles, they're like wearing horse's blinkers. A good solid peak can be turned to block the sun completely where sunglasses or sun-shade visor fails.

Roads dry but very greasy with mud and slime yesterday. Got to visit an old mate today.
Has anyone used the Avon TrailRider tyres? They're M+S (4 season). Some compatible fits. Are they any better grip than the stock Roadrider?

TIA, Jeff.

I can't say whether it's wide or narrow. I'm a "56" Head and I have always used ROOF and Arai helmets In the past and this is my 1st HJC. Considering the cost of the helmet compared to the more expensive Arai, i have to say I rate it as high as the Arai in terms of comfort and fit and the drop down sun visor is really good.
