When I saw the first "leaked" pictures of this I thought it looked ugly. It's not improved much, IMHO. That front mudguard just looks daft, one or the other eh, it surely doesn't need both. I liked the "only bike you'll ever need" tag too, in truth my 29 year old Transalp 600 is the only bike I'll ever need. Luckily for RE, most folk buy the bikes they want rather than the bikes they need, hence the Harley and the Enfield parked either side of the Honda in my garage. Mind you, if they can bring it to Europe for the same price as the Mash 500 (which for some bizarre reason is a 400) then I'm sure it'll sell.

I was in Delhi on business yesterday (3rd).
There was a RE showroom around the corner and they had two Himalayans in the window -one white and one black.
Looked very impressive -much better build quality and finish that the bullets in the showroom.
They would hold their own in a European showroom.
I sat on one and it fitted my 6'1" size nicely.
Very impressive...

Nice to see the preproduction mule being tested down the runway at Bruntinghtorpe over a full year before work even started on the new Royal Enfield building. Me and Chugchug allways do a lap of Bruntingthorpe perimeter roads when we are out and about before returning home, maybe one day we will bump into a Himmy coming the other way.

Will we be getting this model in the UK and europe? Obviously it will need to be euro compliant so that means fuel injection and emissions gubbins to be added and a hefty hike in price to make it worthwhile for RE to export to our relatively small market. I do not see this bike has any competition though - are there any other smallish adventure bikes (the ccm is a premium product and not a competitor in my book). I am pretty excited about this but I will await feedback for reliability first. As an aside I read that yamaha are talking about bringing back the DT400. Presumably it will not be a 2 stroke though so that would lead me to believe the sr400 engine would go into it. Another interesting development in the current bike market. Exciting times.
