just got my seats back from the man.. fully stripped, refoamed, full gel inserts, recovered and detail added. Look great, not had chance to test them. Not cheap at £250 inc postage but that's the coast of quality work. and they turned it round in under a week!

Also.. photo show the very cheap (£30) and cheerfull fishtail exhaust can.. got to be worth a try at that price. first 2 mile run showed the bike pulled well with it and not TOO loud.. I imagine the pipe will be turning a shade of blue soon though!

used it this morning on the 10 mile commute.. the pipre is not blue yet.. but it was rather cold air passing over the pipe.. perhaps they blue easier in the summer?

I seem to disagree with you all the time jefrs. Sorry, but a blue pipe is a sign of overheating. Usually caused by incorrect mixture or ignition settings. Not a badge of honour in my garage ;-)

Papa, is it the original? Some of them had a restriction welded in at the bottom end. (supposed to be a sort of catalytic converter I think)

Yes PeteF, the blue colouration is a tempering colour of the chromium running hot, the colour indicates how hot it has got. It is something of a feature of the EFi with a free-flow exhaust. The EFi runs lean to start with and an open exhaust makes it run weaker. Not necessarily harmful to a motor designed to run that way, there's no easy way to enrich it without a PCv. In stock form the O2 sensor should cope with an open pipe, unless you then add the K&N. Exhaust plus K&N plus PCv makes a significant difference to this engine, it doesn't become a fire breathing monster but it does become more enjoyable. The thick walled indian pipe may not discolour but it is restrictive. Mine has fallen back to a light copperish hue since the PCv. A blued exhaust was a sign that you'd given the bike a damn good thrashing, I just had an air leak..
