Has anyone any experience with the fibreglass tanks on the 1965 Continental. It has had POR15 sealer applied but I need to know how safe it is to use unleaded in it. Either that or does anyone in the Stevenage area know where I can get 4 star leaded petrol. Thanks

Have you googled to check the state of petrol in your local area? There is still petrol without ethanol out there but you have to look for it. Down my way the texaco supergreen is still pure ethanol free petrol.

Never seen leaded fuel for years, as mentioned it`s ETHANOL you don`t want.
ESSO super unleaded is ethanol free so far.

In my experience none of the sealers currently on sale actually work for very long. You might be lucky and get a year of regular use. However, if you only use the bike occasionally and (this is really important) drain the tank completely if not using it, and then you may be ok for longer. None of the fuel additives on sale will stop the Ethanol attacking the tank, they are intended to stop ethanol mixture fuels destabilising when in storage (ie, gumming up and attracting water) so no relief there either. If you can find non-ethanol laced fuel you'll be fine, it is out there! One possibility is to go to your local airfield and buy aviation (105 octane) fuel, it's not cheap but a properly built GT goes really well on it, believe me!

I used to fill my 900ss Ducati at Biggin Hill when refuelling the Cheetah. She used to go like the brown stuff from a shovel! Highly recommended but it is expensive, very expensive.

...just had a quick look, 100 octane at Biggin is about £2 per litre.

You can, of course, buy all sorts of fuels (up 119 RON, along with methanol and racing diesel) from specialist race fuel suppliers like Anglo American Oil.



I use their Sunoco RMR product in my highly tuned GIXER 1000 racecar, and jolly lovely it is too. Pricey though.

Thanks to everyone for there replies. I have googled just about everything that has been suggested but all the major suppliers including Texaco are now stating that even their Super Unleaded fuel has 5% ethanol. I have been using Aspen 4 but at £18.50 for 5 litres its a bit costly. Is it legal for airfields to sell aviation fuel I seem to remember reading some time ago that they had to stop.

Isn't there a BS no.to identify non ethanol fuel? It should be displayed on the pump.

It should be displayed on the pump.
Not in the U.K. but France e.e.c. maybe.
We are well behind in the U.K. as usual.
