I also have an E-bike that runs on a lithium, provides something like 200/250W for about 40 miles. The space-age technology has been driven on by mobile phones but has almost reached end of development now.

Luckily, I learnt my lesson from Tornado.

Don't expect older electrical equipment to produce the same power as modern. Even when running well, old stuff has magnets that slowly loose their magnetism (Have a re- magger now YAY!) But trying to run a 65W headlamp was not happening. Tornado's 'generator' consists of some magnets and bits of wire flying around inside somewhere, in an attempt to shovel some electrons into a cable . A change to 35W (as specified) worked very well on Tornado, and am waiting to see more reports on LED headlamps.

Kevin? Well, he will probably power a 12V camping iron on tickover!

I had quite a lot of time messing with them as a youth working on an old Bradford van (mine) and a Riley Adelphi (my fathers) they were possible to get working properly but they suffered mostly from being completely ignored by other motorists. Also I would get back from a lengthy journey to discover an unusual discharge on the ampmeter because I had failed to cancel the offside traficator several miles back. I did love the clunk that they made mostly because it was the sound of success after many hours of shagging around.

Following on from Pete F's comment, I used to have a Series 1 Standard Vanguard, fitted with trafficators.

Due, I'm guessing, to little wear, at speeds of over about 50mph, they would stick open meaning that dual carriageway and motorway miles were often covered indicating both left and right.

Scalyback,

if it's not too late to persuade you from inflicting those monstrosities on your poor Meteor Minor, I finally grabbed some quick piccies of the LED indicators my bikes are fitted with. Bearing in mind most British bikes weren't fitted with indicators until the early 1970s I would want to keep any that were retro-fitted to older bikes as discrete as possible, and with the arrival of LED indicators, there are now some that have the functionality but don't stick out like sore thumbs quite as much. I'll let the great and good here judge whether or not these still spoil the looks of the bike.

The only problem with this little black number is that by its sheer dinkyness it can make even the small mounting I have used here appear clunky (more work might be needed on that, P clips may not be the solution). But treat yourself to the Indian version of the classic rear number plate/light mount, and you can drill the sides in the side to fit the indicators, as has already been suggested, if it doesn't already have indicator brackets welded on.

They are going on the forward facing side of the rear (only) number plate in a smooth black glossed painted cover on each one. You won't even notice them until they pop out, and if it don't work out, then just swap number plate. I guess I should order a repro pressed ally one, and bugger about with that.

They won't be seen from the front either, so need hand signals still, but the French seem to be ok with bike mods.

Adrian, If I put some on the front, then yours look good. I won't be modifying the bike, just adding and anyway, if someone else had bought him, he could have been a 'bobber' by now.

I'm sceptical, but you may convince me.

As far as the bobber risk is concerned, I suspect a nicely restored classic is less at risk than an un-restored bike these days. Unlike in the heyday of the chopper, I think most people now know what they're dealing with, though this is sadly no guarantee. If anything, Tornado would be more in that firing line, as the classic Indian Bullets are still not really seen as "proper" classics yet, just Old Bikes.

In a parallel universe somewhere, old codgers are bemoaning the disrespectful individuals who insist on modifying their old bikes by adding functional mudguards front and rear, decent seats, ripping the pipe-wrap off the exhaust pipe and chroming it...

YAY, GOT THEM!
Well they are heading towards Moo, who will send them on.

A lucas switch, the trafficators and two spare plastic lenses/arrows!

will be a while, but i hope to have a demo vid towards xmas/new year!

If I don't like them, I might put as additional on Tornado which is allowed as long as the flashing ones are to spec.

Watch this space... (well, actually the one below.)

If I had a yen for indicators - and didn't have inverted levers - I'd be fitting Bullseye bar end indicators, as fitted to some 50s/60s BMWs.
