Lanolin is made from the greasy oil in sheep wool, it's animal fat, it may be puit into soap but it needs flavouring because it stinks. Paraffin wax from a candle is used in woodwork on screws that are to be regularly removed and on a saw blade to stop it sticking to the wood, that is a mineral wax. Tallow (beef or mutton fat) is getting nowhere near my chisels.
