PDetc - I didn't realise the pillion could be shifted aft. My wife's complaint is the thing simply is not wide enough, and it is the width of the mudguard - I have not seen anything wider.
It's a long while since I've recovered a seat but it is well do-able and there are any number of custom seat recovering services out there. Otoh this framed pillion like the export solo seat is one of RE's better offerings. Do not recover a seat with real leather with our english weather, not nice, it's the opposite of shoeburyness...
Our rear foot pegs now flip up toward the toolboxes (right angles to slope of box) which I find easier for me to flip up and down with a hand or toe whilst on the bike. They're not low enough to contact the ground but do still flip up if they catch something (usually my leg).

PD - the springs do compress but at time I like to be able to get both feet firmly down. Stop on brake, left down, switch feet to engage gears, etc. When the feets go down, my weight is lifted and the spring go up. Sod's law says there's a severe camber of a pot hole where my feet want to be. Plus, big plus, since relieving the seat of it springs, it does not pogo and I find the ride far more comfortable with better control, that seat does have thick padding and the rear shocks work rather well. No reason to fit brackets as short as I used.

re shifting the pillion seat.. as a quick 'test' its easy.. there are 2 bolts that go up into the seat base at the front, and then the 4 that also hold the sissy bar on also go through into the seat rails. for a quick trial, just move the seat back so the back set of bolts fro the sissy bar become the front. If it needs to go out on a run, then I'd have to make a few bodging brackets.

Brackets, "mending plates" from B&Q, Jewsons etc make good brackets, different shapes, sizes and thickness. Vise, hacksaw, hammer, drill

pd110961 - The upswept exhaust was standard for the 2011 model year, although I believe it is available as an optional extra on the current C5 model. I was a bit surprised that it makes a healthy British noise, none of yer muffled phrasing sounds so I telephoned the then- importers Watsonian and I was informed that the 2011 model year didn't have a cat in the upswept exhaust. How they got it through the Gestapo (sorry, I mean DVLA Type Approval but same thing) is beyond me as it won't meet EU emissions levels without a cat.
Presto - I'd agree with you that the seat takes on all the characteristics of a concrete block after about 30 miles so I use an Airhawk - best thing since seats were invented.

The log has a cat but that is only a requirement for new bike sales. So I am led to believe. I have kept the old system in case of argument. You can fit a 50s silencer or a Goldie. The upswept may not fit the new models because they have a lower bottom arm on the mudguard frame, may. Mine is level and well tucked in, bought as the complete system.
