Nice, like the classic look. The colour is unusual too, a break from the norm. Love the little details like the Red stripe on the mudguard. Enjoy!

I never normally name a bike, but as this was brand new we got a choise of last 3 letters from a list.. as the Mrs is a School Cook, FX65 CUC seemd good.. hence she's 'cookie'!

I asked the dealer about fitting a free breathing exhaust.. he said, sure, no probs, it wouldn't effect the warranty, even if it blued the pipe. He said the EFi system would come without a Power Commander, but it WOULD need one if I changed the air filter too. For now, i'll keep the huge one on as I'm running her through decent days over winter, and may as well let the OEM one get dirty instead of a decent one.

It has a 2 year warranty. The dealer is new to RE (since Easter this year) so they gave him a for discounts.. hence I got the Classic with fitted pillion seat for £4200 instead of about £4650 which it would have been normally. The bar end mirror was a 'stylish extra' which is now in the spares box as it was crap!

It also came with a full set of cables and 2 inner tubes!

Nice colour! You might have forgotten to mention it but you should have a rattle can of touch-up paint too! Actually my LE dispatch model came with two because it is two-tone (well, sort of). Shame one of the cans was the wrong colour. Oh, and I got the 24/22 mm spanner as well.

For me the jury is still out on whether or not to put a lighter, more free-flowing exhaust on it. I rather like mine in Matt black. It doesn't go blue or rust, so far and I rather like the distinctive sound it makes. I know I'm in a minority on this but really if I want to go fast I'll ride my Triumph Sprint GT SE. I like just bimbling along on my C5. Whatever, I'll definitely run it in fully before tuning it if I do decide to take that route.

Enjoy your bike; it looks lovely.

Did you get the RE first aid kit as well, or is that only for home market bikes?

I'm growing to like the muted rumble, and if its for weight saving I should start on my midrift I guess! :-)

2 random strangers commented on it yesterday on the daily commute.. one bloke in Aldo chatted in the food isle, and a bloke in a land rover at the lights.. that never happened even with the triumph!

I have noticed that whether a new EFI, Redditch, or indian iron bullet, Royal Enfield motorcycles are very good at getting attention and making new friends!

No, I'm afraid I didn't get a first aid kit for me, just the bike...Oh, I also got an oblong red reflector that is self-adhesive and a spare rubber battery retainer strap. I'm not sure that the reflector is part of the C5 spares kit and I don't know where it goes. (No, I don't want suggestions thanks........)

Roadside first aid kits really need a mobile phone and large field dressings not assorted finger plasters, I've found; generally for some unfortunate not yourself. Didn't know you could get spanners in Aldi (I get this weird image of riding the bike down the food aisle). Don't tell your wife these bikes attract nearly as many women as well as they do blokes. If I park on a street the bike gets a queue of gawpers. My 23mm combination spanner is so not going to fit in any of the biscuit tins. There is a tool compartment in the electrics box, the slot at the bottom. I'm still trying to figure out why they didn't use the oval as an air filter (as it used to be), the one in the triangle is big enough for a car. The reflector may be intended for the bottom of the numberplate except our yellow shingle covers it over. I didn't get any touch up paint, the black frame is difficult to match and the silver is not a standard car colour (does anyone have the paint codes as H cannot post them now?). I didn't get the suspension C-spanner, it is needed, I had to ask for one (which they gave me for free). If you carry spare bulbs and fuses, you won't need them but the opposite is true. If the low-fuel bulb blows, you will run out of petrol in the middle of nowhere.

If you have the PCv it has two maps, there is a switch for about £50 or you can spend a few shillings in Maplins for a single pole on/off and some wire. I'm waiting for the Autotune to arrive today, not for more power but so I can fine tune the bottom end for smoother pick up, riding in traffic can be a bit lurchy without using the clutch all the time. Looking at the map number, the bottom end is bog standard (do nothing) and the top end could use a bit more at full throttle (the map tapers off). A Dyno set up will generally tune for 'race' power not easy riding.

I got a pair of the leather panniers with the bike but had a real two and eight getting them to hang nicely. The Electra 'only' frames do with with a bit of simple cutting and bashing to the seat flange. It's a shame my arthritic fingers won't let me do a better job with the planishing hammer now. The pannier frames look right and the panniers hang perfectly.
