Its the same problem of not enough people complaining. In france and other countries, people take action, but here it all seems more complacent.
our government roll in any new law they please with little or no objection. In France, they stopped giving out plastic shopping bags years ago, you can take your own or get a bag for life type thing out there. The supermarkets sorted it out themselves. Over here it was seen as yet another way to fine or make money. 5p a bag by law or a fine of £5000. So now we have another enforcement agency going around supermarkets, checking if the bags are being paid for and as usual, the tax payers are footing the bill both for the bags and for the enforcement of a law that should never have been made. Is this all they do in Westminster nowadays? debate how much fine they can rake in for a store not charging 5P for a bag? No wonder the government seem to have no money.
Let's not even go near the 'wealth and safety' farce, which most companies can't afford anyway.
like 'always on' headlamps for new bikes. nobody got consulted whether it was a good idea or if there might be safety disadvantages, no it was just slipped into being as of next jan.
like the devious LA being able to fine you for not having insurance when they have absolutely nothing to do with insurance anyway. they don't provide it, they don't back you up if there is a problem, but they can send out a fine if you forget to renew on time, say on a bike that you do not use very often.
Historic vehicle tax. they said about cutting down on the red tape, so why not mark a vehicle's record as historic and leave it at that? because they don't make any money that way (It's all about the money nowadays). Instead I have to remember to pay then nothing to get nothing in return which has a tax rate of nothing. BUT, if I forget, then I get a big fine for not taxing or declaring SORN. This is why we have to go through this nonsense, so they can catch a percentage out each year and giggle at the profits.
Public servants??? we are the slaves now!
It don't happen in france or the USA, they burn things or block the streets and cities until the people get the result that they want. seems to work well.
