Some one with a real sense of humour.
I buy some of my spares/accessories from a couple of the big sellers from India and never had a problem but you take a chance, but you cant beat Mr H for his usual next day delivery.
Good returns service too if you need to.
Buy from India and expect to be bit on the bum at some point!

I see that in spite of him going on about how crap the item is and how disappointed he is with it and starting it at £0.01, he still has a £65 reserve on it, so I think he is prepared to take the piss out of someone himself, just as much as the Indian sellers themselves seem to have done with him in the first place.

In most cases, I have to pay for posting and packaging incoming. There is no way I am going to pay to post an unsatisfactory item both ways. I make that clear in a message before bidding on those type auctions.

Well on the Woodsman high level pipes that is EXACTLY what our hosts do for the 500 pipe, I can't speak for the 500 trials pipe, but I suspect it's the same, and I further suspect that it is due to 1.5" pipe being easier to bend on such a tight radius than 1.75" pipe.



There is a school of thought which says the 1.75" diameter pipe is too large for the 500 Bullet. In the 1990's Team Sara, run by one of the classic bike dealers, raced a couple of 500 Indian Bullets, and one of their tuning mods was to fit the narrower exhaust pipe off the 350's to get the exhaust gases moving quicker...



Can't comment re the other quality issues, though.

I fit the smaller dia (1 1/2") 350 header to nearly all my 500's. Much better power, especially noticeable from lower/mid rpm.


1 3/4" is way to large for a street bike.

It is the volume of an exhaust system that is critical not just the diameter of the pipe.

There is a relation ship to frequency. If we tune a pipe to say 4800rpm, that's 4800 /2 /60 = 40Hz. We want the pipe tuned to a longitudinal wave of about 40Hz which is low E on a bass guitar (41Hz). Pat you hand over the end so the pipe goes, "pom", you'll probably hear an upper harmonic. Not the transverse wave you'd get from playing the pipe like a trumpet. That way the exhaust is tuned to the shock wave of the exhaust. Getting it right is more black art than science.
