You folks are making me wonder. When I did a precautionary engine rebuild prior to the 2010 Big Adventure MKIII I have a nagging doubt now which way I fitted the seal. I know I am a devout advocate of "if it ain't broke don't mend it" but, I can't ride and I have time on my hands.
I have a spare timing chest gasket and possibly a seal. Therefore although the Bullet does not use much oil I may open it up & check. Or then again I might not ;)

Why not cross over to the Dark Side and buy an Electra-X? They don't have a seal behind the pinion, they just rely on a high capacity scavenge gear pump to drain the sump quickly.

Hi ts seal size is 30mm by 20mm by 7mm or 5mm.any bearing service carries them cost me $6.00aust for two you can pull the old one out with a sharp angled pick. We set up the timing marks locked the gear train pulled ex cam and crank sprocket and key out with the old and in with the new.
