HELP!! I live in France but I am coming back to the UK mid November for the Classic Motor Show and also to pick up an old 250 Continental. I was planning to use a friend's trailer but he now needs it himself the same week. I am therefore looking to buy a good trailer in the UK that I could pick up around 12th-15th November.

I'm not sure about France, but in Spain there would be potential problems towing a UK trailer with Spanish registered car - Spanish trailers have "papers" whereas UK ones don't..... worth checking rules before you buy a trailer you may not be able to use in future?
Just a thought, may not be relevant to your situation of course.

Thanks for the Gumtree idea. No problem with towing a small trailer here in France - it is a way of life! It is only when you get to the larger trailers, like a car trailer, that you need the separate 'paper', carte grise and you also have to check that your French Driving Licence covers the larger trailers. It is not automatic as it used to be in the UK.
Thanks

Incidentally, from January 2013 UK law requires new drivers to take a separate test to tow a trailer over 750kg. There are the usual confusing exemptions but you should be ok with a bike and trailer as the total weight should be well under.
