So if I order a PCV for my new Classic and fit it to the bike in its un modified state, then later on decide to fit a K&N and a less restrictive exhaust I'll be able to download the new map FOC to suit?

Also, does fitting a PCV not void the warranty at least as far as engine problems are concerned?

Power commander has arrived and I have been looking through the maps.

All the maps add about 5 degrees of timing just about everywhere. I expected this because when I fitted the loud can you could hear it needed more timing.

Quite a bit of fuel added in places as expected. The bike runs weak as standard to make the catalytic converter work right but once that is gone more fuel can be added for a bit more poke.

Might fit it this weekend and go for a run, will update when I can.

I wonder if those offset ElectraX woodruff keys would fit the EFI?
Turned about it would provide ignition advance not retard!

its E.F.i more advance(and everything else) is dialed in mapping wise.

no need to chance the woodruff key.

Hi, I'm in the throes of fitting the Power Commander myself, to my Classic 500 EFI.
It's the new model so it's not obeying the instruction leaflet. Nothing is in the right place but there's plenty of room for it in the electrics box.
The free flowing exhaust (91130) added a couple of ponies by itself but throws the mix out. The exhaust is running more than a little hot due to weak mix. Hence PCV and K&N job.
I've ridden the CGT and found it little different to the C5, the big improvement will be better breathing filter and exhaust, and that needs the PCV to keep the ECU happy. I gather the lean burn engine fuels at 14:1 where 13:1 would be better. Giving it a better exhaust makes it run even weaker. Bypassing the Lambda is supplied with the PCV

As I understand it, the PCV comes mapped and ready for your bike (i.e must be ECU) but you can easily download and remap the thing as you upgrade the bike. The USB cable is included.
What I'm hoping for is a smoother bottom end rather than have it lift the wheel off the ground when you crack the throttle open a little to lift it out of a tight bend. Opening the bypass helped but not enough (btw the throttle body rotates so you can get at it).

I have not got it running again yet, tank is still off and tidying up the plumber's nightmare indian wiring. The spark plug cap fell off the HT lead, not a good sign and that is replaced. The HT lead is captive to the coil and it's a couple of inches too short for the job, fortunately the coil can be repositioned to give it some slack.

I am also fitting the Smiths rev counter, it will work on the 2015 C5 except the fork-top mount won't fit because that now holds the fork leg in and it's a larger screw thread (of course). I'll have to make a handlebar clamp for it.
Problem here is one wire has to go to the coil but neither side is earthy, colours on the loom are red/white and orange. Any ideas which one to choose?

Ok, got everything fitted and running. The bike has barely 500 miles on the clock so not fully run in but has loosened up. I'm not holding it at full throttle or making it work hard yet. As far as I can tell the PCV is not so much giving more horses but smoother delivery and wider power band. Took wife out to dinner last night so we're hauling a good 200kg load. Found a straight bit which the Romans had laid like a corrugated iron roof and took us up to 70mph fairly smartly at

Me? I think I would have run in the engine before leaping into the search for more ponies.

Possibly Beezabryan but the bottom end was unbelievably lumpy like having an on/off switch for a throttle, and it's not like it's the first engine I've run in; I'd intended to do this when first buying it. Nor am I alone in doing this as some bikes are fitted with the PCV from new. There were no signs of metal filings at first 300 mile service and that was done before mods, the motor is practically run in then. There's still no sign of particles in the oil now. Most of its mileage is pottering around country lanes.

Something - the PCV does not feel it has delivered a whole load more horses but power delivery is smoother, it no longer feels strangled by the fuelling. Cracking the throttle open a touch is no longer the sudden off/on but there's seems to be more mid range. The stock exhaust does strangle it but the ECU does not like the free flow exhausts. Has anyone fitted the Autotune AT200 on top of the PCV?
