So it appears I'm not the only one sad enough to give their bike a name?
Currently in the garage we have ;
My wife's Citroen C5 called Chloe, she gave her that name the first time she drove her and when I asked "why Chloe?" she said "she just is". Dobbin (my 2CV) sits alongside her, Dobbin because of the horse connection, 2CV being 2 horses (taxable horsepower) in French. Then we have Sophie, the Harley (because she's a softail) and again named by my wife. Plus Lilly the Transalp (because she's a tranny (Savage?). and last but not least we have Lucy the Enfield, named after my Great Aunt Lucy. Lucy was married to my grandad's brother, George, and when George died he left me 2k, all he had in the world. Which I spent on a little Eriba Puck caravan to tow behind the 2CV, George always had a bit of a wanderlust so I figured he'd approve. Now, 16 years later I've just sold that little caravan for 3000 euro, and not wanting to see George's hard earned wedge wasted on trivial things like food or heating, I spent it on an Enfield. George's wanderlust came from the fact that he was in Burma during the war and went 5 years without ever sleeping indoors, he never could settle down for long. But during that time he spent a lot of time in India and actually he had some good memories of the place in spite of the hardships, so I kinda like that connection and I hope he'd approve of the Enfield too.

I never seem to name vehicles but they may acquire a name, when cars were smaller our white Volvo 245 was easy to find in a car park, "there she blows!" - Moby Dick.

The bike is silver, hey ho, but at the moment it's just "the bike".

I still haven't named my Electra either. Went out on Friday after not being used for a month. Started after a few swift kicks. Went out for an hour. Ran great! Maybe I should call it 'Old Reliable'........Surely Not!!
