I have a continental gt and I can feel the poor thing is strangled with the fueling. I am looking at ordering a PCV soon but wanted to look at maps in advance.

I have the one from the PC site for the Bullet but they do not list one for the CGT. Does anyone have a map they would be willing to share, I am very nerdy and love comparing the maps and seeing how the fueling is altered with what maps.

I spent ages doing the same with my GSXR track bikes so I know a full dyno run is the only real option but that does not stop me playing

I am considering buying a Continental GT and have seen various reports / articles on the net regaring fuelling issues - I'll be interested to know if you resolve the issue, and how you resolve it. I have to admit that fuel injection / mapping is all new to me as I have always owned carburated bikes.

Not sure if this is right but it may be that the fuelling issues have been resolved / improved on the later models, reviews of the latest model seem to suggest this my be the case.

The bottom line is that if I am going to "invest" in a Continental GT and there are issues,I would like to know how to resolve them.

When I had the PCV fitted to my CGT part of the process was setting it up on a dyno. The actual power gained was not much at all but it pulls much better throughout the rev range and behaves much better at tickover/low revs. Stalling at tickover was a real problem with the original map but is now virtually eliminated.

So is the new PCV Mapping - Power Commander mapping? something that exists as an electronic file e.g. software / firmware that can be copied into / out of the PCV and shared, or is something that can only be setup via a computer connected to the Power Commander?

Excuse my ignorance but I am completely new to this.

Answered my own question.

I see there are power commander maps available on the net that can be downloaded, and our hosts sell power commanders with various maps to suit differing exhaust / air filter etc configurations.

The other option is re-programming the ECU directly. The dealer from whom I bought my Classic from recently mostly makes his living from tuning sports bikes, using a dyno. He has sent an RE ECU to Germany for analysis. Unfortunately it has been lost, so he had to send another. When he gets it back he'll apparently be able to tune the ECU on his dyno. I'll ask him about progress re this when I take my bike in for its first service. A cheaper alternative would be a Booster plug. This is wired between the ECU and temp sensor and fools the ECU into thinking that the engine temp is lower than it actually is, richening the mixture. (The standard map is usually too lean). Worked well on my F800GT but I doubt they do one for an RE.

The stock bike is very smooth for a big single (well compared the '39 Norton 16h I am used too) but you can feel it is running weak. The torque is just not there as you would expect.

I will replace the exhaust and filter ( exhaust is on order from our host) but I want to look at some PC maps to see where fuel is added with what mods. Also I want to know if all the maps are available if I buy a PC so I can pick the closest to my set up before I decide I am finished modifying and take it for a dyno session.

Yes; it's a pity you can't just download Tune ecu like I have done for use on my Sprint GT when it's out of warranty. As long as you save the original fuelling map first you can mess around as much as you want, use someone else's map, or just use it to read and clear fault codes and to reset service indicators. Software is free; the only cost involved is an OBDII to USB cable. BTW Someone told me recently that bikes will soon have to have standard OBDII diagnostic connector soon, like all European market cars. About time too.

All bikes will come with obd II but they will also have to have ABS and meet Euro 5 emission standards. Something no air cooled single will ever be able to do ;-(.

I might get the PC with the auto tune unit and do it by seat of pants tuning. Fuel is not hard to get a good map but ignition timing is a black art I have never explored

Got an email back from Hitchcocks to say they will send extra maps if needed if I change sett up. If anyone has files on their computer though I would love to see them just for interests sake.
