The 5 speed gearbox will totally transform any previously 4 speed Bullet. We fitted them to our racing Enfields and they worked so well and covered the ground so much more quickly that our 350 Clipper was barred from scoring championship points for two years, even though some other machines were running 6 speeds! A four speed 'box can work without missing gears, though, here is my tuned Indian 350 out for a run, not one bungled gear change over the 29 minute duration of the video. The primary drive and clutch use 20/50 mineral oil, by the way, same as the engine and gearbox. Cheers, Paul.

PeteF - two quick questions: does our host sell a close ratio kit and how difficult is it to install? Cheers

Ogri,
Question 1 - Yes - accessory shop/gearbox & primary/gerbox - close ratio gear set four speed (not the full set, that's for racing)
Question 2 - Click here

Just pulled my clutch lever in and watched the effect it had on the gearbox casing. Frightening! I shall order one of Mr.H's stiffening kits without delay.

Hi PeteF - just a line to thank you for your help with this. I read over the notes you suggested however it's way beyond my abilities to attempt this type of work, so I'll just leave it as it is. Thanks again.

You're welcome Ogri.
It's perhaps worth keeping in mind if you ever need work done on the gearbox.
