I have a 2004 Bullet sixty 5. It is standard but came with a Brituro silencer fitted when new by the distributors. This silencer is clearly less restrictive and louder than the stock one. I plan to modify the bike and wondered which Hitchcock silencer system would give me a louder (but not offensive), deeper sound that the Brituro. Obviously tone and loudness is a personal matter but I wondered if anyone could give me some guidance. Would the Goldie style or the 60s style (P 60 in the catalogue) be an improvement on the Brituro? How do they differ? Would a reverse cone megaphone with baffling and packing be too loud for the neighbours? And then there are the high level trials system (+mute) and the Woodsman system......

Ian,

I found that on the one hand the Briteuro silencer was overly restrictive still, while on the other our hosts' straight-through Goldie-style offering too loud, even with the small baffle screwed into the tailpipe. The answer for me was the Indian-made short baffled silencer, get one from the right manufacturer and it has a nice blat without being over-powering. Our hosts sell these besides their own items, catalogue no. 91050 for the 500 silencer and 91051 for the longer exhaust pipe to suit.

I replaced the Bituro on my sixty5 with the Hitchcocks 91007 and was very pleased with it.

I have the 91007 which has been there for years and is still solid, and loud enough even with the small baffle..

It has an extended front pipe to fit the standard short indian header, though i did change this to get rid of that awful pav connection that spoils the look..

A megaphone would i think attract unwanted attention from plod and also drive you up the wall after an hours ride..

I can't get on with ear plugs, besides i like to listen to the motor for anything untoward..

A one minute brief video of me joining the throng on the Megaride a few weeks ago gives some idea of the sound..

If you crack open the throttle you would hear 50s style 91080/91130 over all of that mob on gwilly's video even with the baffle in but it's not offensively loud. Definitive big single sound, nice putter whilst poodling. 91007 looks similar

I'm with Guru, the Fifties style is a good compromise.
The Goldie is more an amplifier than a silencer!

Thanks to these latest thoughts. The consensus seems to be a fifties style so that's what I'm going for. I'd originally considered the trials high level system but fear that even with its mute it will be too noisy for the neighbours. Am I right?
