Thack,

I thought the lever fooled the efi into injecting more fuel , like for a cold start?

I don't Have Thunderbolt to check on anymore, but apparently, the RE ECU can be reset if it has made a hash of things.

ECU RESET:

Check for all the sensor connections plugged in properly and then reset the system by the following procedure.

Switch on both the ignition key and kill switch wait, for 10 sec then completely open the throttle for 10 sec, then release the throttle, after 5 sec mil will blink continuously twice, reset completes.

Then switch off the ignition and switch the ignition key on again. wait for 3 sec then start the engine.

(note during reset procedure the engine should not be running, only the ign. Key and kill switch is to be turned on.)

Will it work? I don't know. I would say use at your own risk, but if somebody does try it out or knows if this is correct, do let us know here!

Forgot to say, it seems the ECU does store things, like errors and the like.

In the vid below, Mr. Singh Is looking for the ECU to store a 'bike fell over' sensor code, but this also lets you see if is has stored any error it has picked up. It seems the ECU reset just erases the log or logs?

Scalyback that ECU reset procedure sounds OK to me.

I found a somewhat similar procedure for resetting the ABS computer on my BMW K75S. (Touch ANYTHING on the brakes and you are left with a warning light and a dealer charges an arm and a leg to get rid of it.)

Hey, Scaly! That cold start device is, literally, just an air bypass round the throttle plate.

Where did you find that reset sequence? I'm gonna try it this morning to see what happens and will report back.

GWA: Many thanks for those details. Very interesting indeed.

Ah, I was wondering how you cleared the EPROm memory. I thought it must be possible if only by a dealer. Certainly you can do so on every other EFI bike I've owned (Honda, BMW, Triumph) either via software or simply disconnecting the battery. RE process seems a bit like oilhead BMW one. Thanks for that.

Thinking, I've had a "Stage 1" and K&N done on my car and the improvement is enormous, a colossal boost to horses and torque but, big but the user cannot fiddle with it, I have to call the Viezu man out.
With the C5 (2015 500EFI) I have fitted the free-flow exhaust (91130), K&N and PCV. What I am trying to do, is correct the original ECU map which is very lumpy at the bottom end, partically on-off. There are some very narrow lanes here and a couple of times opening the throttle a little has lifted the wheel off the ground in 2nd, which is not funny when you're aimed at a ditch. I've dialled most of the problem out with the bypass screw, the throttle body rotates to get at it. It is a little early to tell what the PCV has done as I only got it going yesterday.
The maps provided in Hitchcocks PCV appear to be customised versions as there is only Royal Enfield "Bullet" with stock exhaust available from Powercommander.com (do please correct me if I'm wrong). The maps can be altered with PCV software (download), not tried.
I'm sort-of interested in the AT200 Autotune add-on but if it is so good why do Hitchcocks not purvey it? HAs anyone use the AT200 with Hichcocks' 500EFI PCV maps?
