I have one on my 04 Bullet and it works fine without a battery, however I changed all my lights to LEDs (excluding the headlight because that runs straight off the alternator). They draw such a low current that the amp meter barely moves when I turn the lights on, I'm no expert but this seemed logical to me. Also you don’t want your idle speed too low.

I'm thinking of getting a Powerbox, as I don't use the bike very often and whenever I do want to use her the battery is flat. Is there any reason I can't just put a switch in the battery lead after the fuse, to save pulling the fuse when I want to switch from battery start to Powerbox start?

I wonder if your battery is getting tired?
Our Bullet has at times been left for weeks & sometimes months when we are away, never had a flat battery when next fired up.

Shouldn't be - it was new this year!

Sadly, if the battery was new this week, it is no guarantee, it could still be duff - there is some real crap out there these days. I speak from experience in this case. Cheers, Paul.
