Ideally it should be in the centre of the top tube of the stand, facing downwards with the centre stand up, so you can get the grease gun onto it when the bike is on its side stand. My guess is that you've used a 5mm eye bolt, a common enough metric size, if we can't find any the right size then we may ask you to bring a stash back with you on your return to Blighty. Probably the dullest contraband since smuggling began.



To anyone building a special using the '56 on Redditch frame, you can also use the Samrat or similar Indian side stand too, just remember it needs a longer 3/8" through stud at the back of the frame.

I was thinking more of putting it on the front of the bar, when the stand is down, as it would not wobble around. I can't imagine that a good push from a grease gun would have a hope in hell of taking the bike off the stand!



I can always post a few of these bolts and the nuts out, but am not making a cottage industry of it!

very clever idea, I have the old type stand arrangement with the spring attached to bracket on top of gearbox. I see you hooked eyebolt over the lug on the engine plate which takes the late shorter spring . Q is there enough room to still attach spring to lug or do you use only one on other side? PS why they never beefed up this area to support the bar is beyond me.

Finding nothing like your threaded Eye Bolt locally I opted for a 60mm vine tie and after cutting off the threaded tip and part of its eye found it a nice snug fit through the split pin hole. A tap with a hammer to put a slight bend in the exposed shaft held it firmly in place.
On the latest model Bullet those axle pin holes are actually part of the frame and not a removable/replaceable plate - fixing is a hands, knees and torch job, fortunately the return spring stays in situ throughout
