Ideally it should be in the centre of the top tube of the stand, facing downwards with the centre stand up, so you can get the grease gun onto it when the bike is on its side stand. My guess is that you've used a 5mm eye bolt, a common enough metric size, if we can't find any the right size then we may ask you to bring a stash back with you on your return to Blighty. Probably the dullest contraband since smuggling began.
To anyone building a special using the '56 on Redditch frame, you can also use the Samrat or similar Indian side stand too, just remember it needs a longer 3/8" through stud at the back of the frame.
