Like I said, it's that extra piece on the side of the Indian centre stand that makes all the difference, it's still worth trying. You can always get the ends shortened if 17" wheels absolutely dictate. A.

My friend recently took off the original stand off his 59 Meteor Minor and replaced it with the Indian one. My 53 Bullet also has the Indian one. His has 17inch wheels and mine has 19 inch and both bikes can be pulled onto the stand with equal measure. The Indian conversion is well worth it if the bike is to be used regularly as it makes a huge difference and is very practical. You can always keep the original as provenance.

Thanks Chris, That gives me another workable option.

I always keep original parts that come of the bikes, but at least I know that the indian one should work ok.

If I can't make a good job of the redditch one, then its going Indian!

Sadly, on further investigation, the Redditch stand and engine brackets have had it.

the stand could be repaired yet again, but the engine brackets have got egg shaped holes where they should be round.

Unfortunately, I don't have the equiptment here to add weld to both and thus put back into service, so the parts will be stored to go with the bike when I give up riding! The new owner may well find it child's play with the correct workshop. Will let you know how the installation of the Indian stand and brackets goes, but I caught a cold or something and so am not in a [s]curry[/s] hurry to get it done at the moment

THERE AGAIN... Once I have the brackets off, I am free to take them to the local garage to see if they can fix them...

Watch this space...

No, no, no! It's time for common sense now. Your back will thank you for the Indian stand, trust Chris on this if you don't trust me. None of us are getting any younger.

The only installation issue I had with the Indian stand assembly was that the head of the spring anchor on the outside of one of the plates needed filing down about 1/8" just to provide clearance for the frame tube, 5 mins extra work including checking?
