If yours is the UAW one, then it seems to be an ebay pic.

So the steel srtip is to physically stop the stand from going forward to far?

I am not a welder, but will ask Chris the mechanic.

These bikes are great fun aren't they?

"Pick the best looking one and see if you are correct."

WOW!, You used to have Kevin???

(well what was I expected to say?)

Actually, some while ago, Kevin belonged to the chairman of the Somerset REOC so I have been told.

Well, I am a past Chairman of the REOC you see !! Try YSK774, with My mate Willie's beautiful show winning (and well ridden) Triumph Tiger 100SS and another mate Jim's Matchless G3LS behind. YSK looks the part, don't you think?

Scalyback, I forgot to say : notice how the stick on number plate creates the illusion of making the forward part of the mudguard look less bulky! REgards Dick

OOH! all those pretty bikes.

I see what you mean about the stick on numbers. Am not sure wether to do Kevin or not, but will wait several weeks before deciding.

Simple answer to the centre stand problem, fit an Indian steel one, out hosts sell the kit complete with rear engine plates in case the holes have worn where the centre stand spindle sits. For originality's sake you would of course keep the Redditch one tucked away safely. My '57 Bullet was a struggle compared to the Electra-X, so when I put what is now ASBO 12 together an Indian stand was a must have. Never regretted it.

The odd effect of the deep mudguard is probably exaggerated by the use of the 17" wheels, but there's something not quite right about yours. Have another look at the catalogue picture and the bikes in the first two photos that you posted. The catalogue picture and the first two photos show the bottom edge of the mudguard CONCENTRIC with the wheel rim forward of the forks and for a way behind the forks. Look again at Kevin and RFO 529 and you will see the mudguards appear to have dropped down too far at the front, which suggests the central mounting needs attention. If you can get that sorted it might alleviate the air of bath tubbiness, which doesn't seem to afflict the other two red ones and the one in the catalogue picture anything like as much.
