I have just found this video, 28.5 litres 300hp, first engine start for 100 years. (At one minute 46 seconds on.)

That is a very brave man on the starting handle, the engine is over 7 litres per cylinder.

What a superb thing! Looks like he brought it just past TDC and then made a spark to,get it to fire. Can't help but feel it would go better,with some form of exhaust in place but he clearly knows what he's doing. The potential for injury is massive with hints of Babs with the chain driven back wheels. Great clip thanks Papasmurf.

That vid sent me on an evening of aero engined car and land speed record car YouTube viewing. The concept of going that fast in a vehicle like that is daunting. The tyres would not have existed to do that sort of speed. I loose faith in all the fast moving parts of all my machines at anything approaching the ton so how anyone managed back then is a mystery.

Is it true Messrs H are working on a big bore kit for it and a louder exhaust to give it some oomph? Why didn't they use the electric starter? I bet the sprag's broken.
