Totally unrelated to Enfield or motorcycles I have been helping a friend convert a lawnmower engine purchased at a very bargain price off of the internet into a crab pot hauler.
I had to bore out the hole in the pulley from 22mm to 7/8th of an inch to fit the shaft. (I used a rat-tail file, to do it, an also file a slot in the pulley for a woodruff key.)
We had to mod the engine a bit, remove an automatic brake, and fit an on off switch. (No ignition switch fitted.)
Just filled the engine up with oil, put petrol in the tank, determined which was on and which was off by looking at the spark plus tip whilst winding the engine over. Five presses on the petrol primer two pulls on the starter cord jobs a good un.
