Evening folks,

I have just rebuilt the 4 speed gearbox on my 1966 Crusader Sports .It runs fine but I can only select 2nd,3rd and 4th gears.

Has anybody any suggestions as to what I have done wrong and how to remedy the fault?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Cheers Mick

Hi, call Hitchcock's and ask for copy of Jack Gray's Crusader rebuild article. Good info on setting up selectors. Richard

Thanks Richard and Mark.

I have the article by Jack Gray and the full workshop manual which I used. The workshop manual is not specific enough when discussing setting up the gearbox selector. My friend, who is a motor engineer with 50 years in the trade has recently completed a Crusader Sport gearbox and says he does not want to do another one it took him many, many attempts to get the selector set up properly.

I will look at the 250 Owners Group you mentioned.

I was hoping I had forgotten something which would be obvious to the "experts" ; still I will keep trying. I hope I have not done any damage giving it a run without being able to select all the gears.

Thanks again, ride safe. I will let you know the developments in the hope that it will help someone else.

Mick, you're unlikely to damage the 4 speed box like that, though the 5'er is more fragile. See you over at the Crusader site!

Thanks again Mark.

I live in South Devon, are you anywhere near?

I will reply on the Crusader website when I find the reply button.

Mick, on the Crusader site, click on the Message to read it then there is a "Reply" option bottom left which opens a window for your message. When you've written it "SEND" is bottom left of the window.
