Ok so I have only done around 100 miles but I have not got the knack for the kick start.

Its a new efi - I kno wthe theory use the kick starter to get past TDC and then go for it.

clutch in? bit of throttle? Any tips please...

when cold, operate the choke/enriching/whatever lever on the left handlebar, usually no throttle, kick once (Maybe twice)

Wait a few seconds, release enriching lever.

If it works on your EFI, then stick to it!

Make sure you practice until you get it right, otherwise you will become, in your old age, one of us who walk around mumbling,"start ya bastard."

By "clutch in" i presume (hope!) you mean lever not pulled in. If you pull lever in obviously you disconnect the the drive from the engine.

I think these little divils are a little light in the flywheel department. With my 500cc heffy I've always found it best to bring it up onto compression and then welly it rather than easing it over TDC. It usually starts first time.
I only need to use the enrichment jet during the coldest of winter months.

I put mine up to compression return the kick start to the top and give a good heavy kick it takes some effort to be sucessful

No Les but I know a man who does, plus the complete diving suit and compressor. He still uses it from time to time.
