Sorry to bring up the old perennial again, in short got an advisory on the last MOT to change out the rear AM26..

Its been a good tyre performance wise but at only 3000 miles a little short lived..

Also to be honest it looks a little skinny under the number plate, just not quite right to my eye..

I want something with a bit more beef, not the Skid Makers, one of those side car tyres put me and the Norton in the weeds when the back end broke away in the damp.

So i'm thinking Dunlop K70 or K81 but having never owned one thought i'd tap in to the wealth of knowledge available from my friends.

Also would i be foolish to leave the AM26 on the front for now or will this upset road holding in some way..

Hi Gwilly: I`m not familiar with those tyres, all I can suggest, if you have a Bullet, is to stick to the sizes recommended by the maker; 3.25x19 front-3.50x19 rear.
As long as there is a tyre with a longitudinal thread, not knobby, on the front, it will be safe. Do not fit a larger tyre on the rear, it will rub on the wiring. harness.

Gwilly it is obviously the wheel spinning performance you are getting from that Model G causing you to only get 3000 miles from a rear tyre

Another question with insufficient information, Gwilly does not tell us the reason for the advisory nor does he tell us if it is 3000 miles in 1 year or 10.

I fitted K81s - Look suitably period but grip seems more than adequate for the performance.
I don't thing leaving the AM26 on will cause a problem but there's one way of finding out. If it was more than a few years old I would change it anyway. Tyres do go off with age.

is it?

My Electra X (ish) has Continental Twinduro 110/80 B19 M/C 59Q TKS 80 Knobbly Tyres front and rear and despite dire warnings from several "experts" about lack of grip I had to do a quick right foot rest scrape to right footrest scrape to avoid death a couple of months ago. (expletive deleted) Cornish driver.
The bike did not slide and I did not fall off. I did come very close to needing clean underpants though.

I run K70's on my Interceptor. They suit the bike well and have all the grip I need. As you are changing compound and tread pattern it may be best to replace them as a pair

I've used TT100's twice over, front and back. Very pleased and haven't skidded off.... yet....
