Do you know the polarity of the bike? Is the + wire from the battery (positive earth)secured to the frame, or the - wire (negative earth) secured to the frame? Have you told anyone? Also, sometimes different globes don`t reach the contacts inside the lamp holder, make sure the spring-loaded contacts are moving freely..

Thanks for all the input, after I checked all the connecters going back from the tail light I found one that although together it was very loose, so on closing the spade connecter up, the LED finally worked, although the first one did not.
