Me again. ..

I finally got my wires repaired and the generator replaced on my efi electra but on my last journey it started to rev really highly and fast.

Even sat at the lights it sounded like the bike was going to take off, the amount of revs it was throwing out! It then seemed to change into what I can only describe as a 'breathing' rate with what seemed like 2 seconds of slower revs followed by 2 seconds of quick revs followed by 2 seconds of slow revs etc etc...

Any ideas?

Weird. Odd behaviour like this is often due to an inlet manifold leak. Have you been working in that area at all? Anyway, I'd check each joint carefully.

My indicators were on some of the time but not always.

I hadn't been working on it but it was in the garage for oil dripping from above the front end of the chain. They said they didn't do anything but I'm sceptical and think they may have replaced a seal but didn't want to admit they caused the oil leak in the first place.

I asked about the indicators because I was out riding once and my battery wasn't at its best.. I got a stop/go effect when I used the indicators..

Your '2 seconds' rev and die rang a bell.. Every time the indicator light lit up the engine nearly died..

Just a thought...

No worries, thanks for the advice anyway!

It's back in the garage now so hopefully it will get sorted but who knows... The recovery guy did say that he thought it was an electrical problem though so that's interesting.

Quick way to see if the inlet is leaking. Spray all joints with wd40. Instant smoke if it's sucked in.
