Date for your diary: Astley Green Colliery Museum Sunday 5th July 2015. Lots of bikes old and new. Very friendly, free if you're on any bike. Food, drinks, toilets, old mining machinery

For the first time ever, there appears to be an access problem. The show cannot, therefore, be guaranteed to run this year. However, it is suggested that some individuals may gather at the entrance gates to the colliery, where there's still lots of space. br>
BUT PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON COMING ANY DISTANCE AND FINDING ANYTHING ON. If you're local maybe have a look. Extremely disappointing but that's it. Hope it'll be back next year. -Chris

Hi Chris,
As you probably know I live in the Astley area and today was talking to one of the LE Velo crowd who have a small local gathering at the Pit on Monday. The access problem relates to condition of the cobbled road that leads up to the pit gates. It was recently attacked by a "digging crew" who were repairing some service underground, they made such a poor job of replacing the cobble surface that there is some considerable concern that the surface could easily catch out the unwary resulting in a bike ending up on its side with the possibility of rider and machine injury. I thought they were being over cautious so I went and had a look....it is pretty bad and in the words of one of the Velo club " unlikely to get fixed in the foreseeable future". I wouldn't hold out much hope for any shows there this year. Incidently my Enfield is almost back on the road after the incident last October, once the remains of the bike were on the bench and the forks sorted out I decided to do all those other jobs that needed attention and we all know how much time that can take! I am now fit enough to ride again and have done some trips on the Varadero so look forward to getting back on the road proper in the near future. Ian

thats a shame, Ive been to this show for the last few years. I even know the gulf vespa owner, Martin ( me thinks). Its a great day out, shame its not moved somewhere nearby. Rivvi barn gets hectic on a sunny sunday but any big carpark is better than nothing.

It is, as far as I understand, still a bit unclear what's happening regarding the Astley show day; However, my suggestion, following various conversations, is to turn up as there will be people there, but maybe bring a pie and a bottle of pop as there might not be any catering this time.

I'm hoping to be there 11 ish; IT SHOULD BE A GOOD DAY

All this is a bit unofficial but the best I can do; I'll be posting AGAIN IF THERE IS ANY MORE NEWS;
